Happy Midsummer, everyone! Today is a holiday here in Finland as everyone celebrates Juhannus (midsummer) with bonfires, barbecues, and plenty of booze. (We do not have any of those things, but we did have crisps and fizzy.) I got to have a day off of work which was lovely. In fact I have a four-day weekend, as I have Monday off too. Lucky me!
It’s a good thing I’m having the time off, actually, as I’ve been rather sleep deprived lately. Since husband started working his new job I’ve(/we’ve) been getting up earlier, as his morning shifts require him to be there at 6.30. That means getting up at about 5. We’ve been doing a good job of it, but not such a good job of going to bed on time. Hence the sleep deprivation. Well, plus our flat has been really warm which is not the most conducive to a good night’s sleep…
Yesterday evening I was so tired that I ended up going to bed at about 8. I fell asleep very quickly despite the fact that a) husband was listening to a podcast (and as we basically live in one room his computer is right by the bed) and b) the room was quite light as none of the curtains were closed. I guess that shows how tired I was! And I managed to sleep straight through until my alarm went off at 5.
Of course I’m already late for bed today, but we’ll ignore that inconvenient fact..!
